Carbon Steel Rectangular Bar and Rod usually have iron as its base, and the percentage of carbon may vary. There is also a small percentage of other elements present. The common chemical composition contains around 0.05-0.25% carbon, 0.60-0.90% manganese, 0.04-0.30% silicon, and up to 0.04% of sulfur and phosphorus. The mechanical properties of carbon steel are very high tensile strength (400-700 MPa), yield strength (250-450 MPa), and elongation at 20-30%. It is of varying hardness content with carbon: typically 120 to 250 HB. Carbon steel also boasts good machinability and weldability with high cost-effectiveness for structural and industrial applications.
