Isis Metals, located in Manila, Philippines, is a reputable manufacturer and supplier of high-quality metal products for various industries. The company is highly reputed for precision engineering and high-performance materials and offers specialty items such as High-Speed Steel (HSS) M2 Bars, which are highly prized for their superior hardness, abrasion resistance, and high-temperature endurance. These M2 bars are used widely in cutting tool production, industrial machinery, and precision engineering applications. Being committed to quality, reliability, and customer satisfaction, Isis Metals has positioned itself as a value-added supplier in the metal industry, guaranteeing high performance and long-term value.
High-Speed Steel M2 Bars consist of 0.85–1.0% Carbon, 4.0–5.0% Molybdenum, 3.75–4.5% Tungsten, 1.0–1.4% Chromium, and 0.3–0.9% Vanadium, with Cobalt and Silicon in trace amounts. This type of composition provides M2 steel with exceptional hardness (up to 65 HRC after heat treatment), excellent wear resistance, and superior toughness at high temperatures. The molybdenum and tungsten content is high, ensuring that the hardness retains its value under heat, while vanadium increases wear resistance. These mechanical properties also make M2 suitable for high-speed cutting and industrial applications demanding strength, wear resistance, and resistance to thermal fatigue and abrasion.

Yes, High-Speed Steel M2 can be welded, but it requires careful heat control. Preheating, welding with proper filler material, and post-weld heat treatment are necessary to avoid cracking and preserve hardness.
High-Speed Steel M2 bars are not ideal for high-temperature applications, as they can lose hardness and wear resistance above 540°C, limiting their performance in extreme heat conditions.
High-Speed Steel M2 bars should be stored in a dry, cool environment to prevent corrosion. They should be kept off the ground, ideally on wooden or metal racks, and away from moisture or chemicals.
HSS M2 Bars find extensive applications in the manufacture of high-performance cutting tools like drill bits, milling cutters, taps, reamers, saw blades, and tool bits. Their high-temperature strength and sharpness allow them to be ideally suited for high-speed machining and metal-cutting processes. M2 bars are also used in stamping, punching, and forming dies where durability and wear resistance are a must. Their toughness and thermal stability make them sought after for heavy-duty use in industry. Because of their high performance, M2 bars are commonly used in aerospace, automotive, and metalworking industries, promising consistent accuracy and dependability in production processes.
