Stainless Steel 420 Bars and Rods are composed of about 12–14% chromium, 0.15–0.40% carbon, along with trace amounts of manganese, silicon, and phosphorus. This unique blend results in excellent hardness and moderate resistance to corrosion. Depending on the heat treatment, the alloy can achieve tensile strengths between 700 to 1100 MPa, with a Rockwell hardness reaching up to 50 HRC. SS 420 is known for its good machinability and fair weldability when in the annealed state.
